An Arctic soundtrack for meditation has been released. It was created using the sounds made by walruses, whales, and fur seals
Music made for those who want to cope with stress and properly relax after a hard day’s work has surfaced online. This is a relaxation track, “Walrus Lounge”. The track owes its original name to its unusual “performers.” The secret is that the music is created from the sounds of animals and nature of the Arctic.
“Walrus Lounge” is a one-hour soundtrack in the style of light jazz for relaxation and meditation to the sound of water, cracking ice, and the gentle growls of fur seals. This musical experiment was produced by the creative team of Gazprom Neft and the influencer-focused media outlet SRSLY.

You can listen to the music of the Arctic on all popular audio streaming platforms. “Walrus Lounge” also has a video version. The music video is available on RUTUBE. It includes footage of nature and wildlife from different regions of the Arctic Circle. The audio project incorporates bird calls, sounds made by walruses, whales, and seals, as well as the splashing of waves and the crunching of snow. These sounds are part of the “White Noise of the Arctic” record library, where Gazprom Neft has stored over six hours of audio recordings of northern nature. These recordings were sampled and combined with a rhythmic melody by the project’s co-author, St. Petersburg musician Kirill Gorbatyuk. “I hope that this project will help everyone feel the Arctic vibe and forget about stress, even if just for a little while”, he noted.
The musical release builds on the visual art project “Diving into the Arctic” presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum by Gazprom Neft. The company dedicated this project to the study of the North and its love for the Russian Arctic. Thanks to 3D Naked Eye technology, the installation turns into a virtual environment where you can get acquainted with the underwater life of walruses, whales, and narwhals. You can also watch animated ice metamorphoses and views of the Arctic from space.
